NBU wants to reduce cash amount in economy to 12%

The National Bank of Ukraine stands for further development of cashless circulation and decline in the share of cash in the economy up to 12% in 2020 from 18% at the end of 2014, the NBU has reported on Facebook.

According to the NBU, since the beginning of 2015, the volume of cash in Ukraine's economy decreased by 2.3% down to UAH 276.3 billion as of the end of August.

The regulator says that the Ukrainians are actively using payment cards when buying online goods and services. In particular, in Q2 of 2015, online payments amounted to over UAH 45 billion. In addition, the Ukrainians conducted more than 111 million monetary transactions totaling almost UAH 43 billion within the country, while two million payments worth UAH 2.5 billion were made in foreign online stores.
