Ukraine takes 79th place in Global Competitiveness Index 2015–2016 Rankings

Ukraine has slided down in the Global Competitiveness Index Rankings of the World Economic Forum (WEF), taking 79th place compared to 76th last year, according to The Global Competitiveness Report 2015–2016.

This year's Report provides an overview of the competitiveness performance of 140 economies and thus continues to be the most comprehensive assessment of its kind. It contains a detailed profile of each of the economies included.

The experts evaluated a wide range of factors (about 100 items), including the development of infrastructure, currency and stock market, the work of the state apparatus, the judiciary, business activity, education level, employment rate of the population and the crime situation.

At the same time, according to analysts of the WEF, the highest score Ukraine received in the education sector - 6.1 points, the lowest - 3.1 points - the macroeconomic stability and the development of state institutions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Global Competitiveness Index is one of the main reports of the World Economic Forum, which gives not only informational, but also the auxiliary function for countries undergoing economic and political transformation.

In 2013, Ukraine ranked 84th in the Global Competitiveness Index out of 148 countries, down by 11 positions because of the bureaucracy and lack of transparency in the institutional structure of the country.

In 2014, Ukraine improved its position to 76th place among 144 participants of the rating.
