Central bank reports about UAH 10 bln budget surplus in August

Ukraine's national budget in August 2015 posted a surplus of almost UAH 10 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

January through August 2015, the cumulative surplus of the national budget stood at UAH 7.7 billion, whereas there was a deficit of UAH 35.2 billion in the same period last year, the NBU said in its Macroeconomic and Monetary Review posted on its website on Wednesday.

"Strong budget revenue growth (by 58% yoy) was achieved due to the improved electronic system of VAT administration as well as higher non-tax proceeds. At the same time, the growth of budget expenditures (by 19% yoy) remained moderate," the review reads.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's national budget in January-July 2015 posted a UAH 2.3 billion deficit, which was more than 92.9%, or 14.3 times, down on a deficit estimated at UAH 32.8 million in the same period last year.

The approved national budget for 2015 foresees revenues at UAH 502.260 billion, while outlays are projected at UAH 566.870 billion. A limit size of the budget deficit is set at UAH 75.820 billion, or 4.1% of GDP. The state debt cap is fixed at UAH 1.394 trillion.

The official forex rate set by the NBU as of September 30, 2015, was UAH 21.528 per U.S. dollar, while the rate set for October 1, 2015, is UAH 21.296 per U.S. dollar.
