The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made a decision to halve gas tariffs for the households consuming under 200 cubic meters per month, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a Cabinet meeting on September 30.
"We are accumulating funds for gas, social price is set. I emphasize again that this is 50% of the market price for gas. The market price is UAH 7,188. For households with the consumption volume of up to 200 cubic meters, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to lower the price by half - UAH 3,600," Yatsenyuk said.
According to the Prime Minister, the state will compensate the difference in gas price by means of the budget funds.
Read alsoYatsenyuk: Ukraine needs $1.3 bln for winter gas purchaseAs UNIAN reported earlier, in fulfillment of the Memorandum with the International Monetary Fund, Ukraine's key creditor, the National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation increased from April 1, 2015, the minimum price of gas for the population by 3.3 times - up to UAH 3,600 per thousand cubic meters of gas with the consumption volume of up to 200 cubic meters. In off-season - from May 1 to September 30 - the price of natural gas will amount to UAH 7,188 per thousand cubic meters, regardless of the volume of consumption.
In addition, from April 1 tariffs for heat supply for the population were raised by 72% to UAH 537.2 per Gcal. The National Commission for State Energy and Public Utilities Regulation also increased electricity tariffs for households by an average of 19%.
