Ukraine sees gas stocks in underground facilities expand to 16.2 bcm

Gas reserves in Ukraine's underground storage facilities expanded by 2.4%, or 393 million cubic meters (mcm), to 16.191 billion cubic meters (bcm) from October 10 to October 17, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.

The average daily volume of gas pumped into the underground storage facilities increased up to 85 mcm last week compared to the previous week with 7 mcm, the company said.

Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev expects to pump more than 17 bcm of natural gas reserves in underground storage facilities by end of October that will allow the country to comfortably spend the heating season.

Prior to the launch of the heating season of 2015-2016, Ukraine on October 13 started importing natural gas from all current supplier countries.
