Naftogaz offers idle facilities to importers of gas from Europe

National joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine offers its idle gas transport facilities in the village of Budince on the Ukrainian-Slovakian border to companies importing gas from Europe, according to the company's press service.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This proposal was put forth as part of measures to ensure regular gas supplies from Europe to Ukraine and amid the toughening of competition on the domestic gas market.

Naftogaz stresses it is ready to offer a flexible algorithm of cooperation to suppliers depending on volumes and terms of gas shipments.

"The companies that are interested in the proposal should prepare a request in the form of an official letter with official contact details, and signed and stamped by responsible executives, which is to be sent to Naftogaz's CEO. The letter should mention an expected amount [of gas shipments] and terms when the gas transportation facilities will be used, as well as the so-called shipper code [a kind of barcode that is used in gas operations between GTS operators and owners of gas] in the system of Slovakia's gas transport operator Eustream, a.s.," Naftogaz said.

"Should there be available facilities in the mentioned period, Naftogaz will send a contractor a list of documents for the verification of the contractor and a draft nondisclosure agreement. After the procedures are completed, Naftogaz will send the counteragent its commercial offer," the company said.

At the same time, Naftogaz says it reserves the right to accept or decline any request for the use of its gas transport facilities until the conclusion of a deal. It also may stop receiving requests for the use of the gas transport facilities at any time without any obligations before a submitter of the request.

As UNIAN reported earlier, to ensure the 2015/2016 heating season, Ukraine on October 13 started importing natural gas from all current supplier countries, including Russia and Slovakia. The latter is seen as the most important European route.

This summer, Ukraine boosted gas purchases from Slovakia by a third.
