Cabinet asks Rada to ratify Open Skies agreement with U.S.

The Cabinet of Ministers has tabled an Open Skies agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, for ratification.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is stipulated in Сabinet resolution No. 1086-r dated October 19, 2015.

"An Open Skies agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the United States of America, which was concluded in Washington on July 14, 2015, shall be submitted for ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," the resolution reads.

The agreement is designed to liberalize the air transport service between the countries.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky signed the agreement during the Ukraine-U.S. Business Forum in Washington on July 14, 2015. Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine A. Novelli signed it on behalf of the United States.

Open Skies agreements promote increased travel and trade, enhance productivity, and spur high-quality job opportunities and economic growth. They serve to eliminate government interference in commercial airline decisions about routes, capacity, and pricing and allow carriers to provide more affordable, convenient, and efficient air service for consumers.

Earlier, in July 2015, the Verkhovna Rada ratified an Open Skies agreement with Great Britain.
