Ukraine lodged its first of a series of planned claims against Russia with the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Wednesday, challenging trade restrictions on Ukrainian-produced wagons and railroad switches.
"Let me announce that we've fulfilled our promise – the one given by personally myself, and by the [Economic Development and Trade] Minister [Aivaras Abromavicius] and the premier [Arseniy Yatsenyuk]," Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister and Ukraine Trade Representative Natalia Mykolska said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday. "In the morning today, Ukraine filed its first claim against the Russian Federation, which is connected with limitations on Ukrainian wagons and railroad switches."
As UNIAN reported earlier, it's not the first case of WTO-related litigation between Ukraine and Russia – early in May 2015 Russia filed a lawsuit at the WTO against Ukraine for imposing duties on ammonium nitrate.
