Ukrainians' incomes in dollar equivalent lose one third in past year

Wages and salaries in Ukraine lost 32% in value on the average from autumn 2014 to autumn 2015 if they are compared as converted in the U.S. dollar, Ukrainian weekly Novoye Vremia wrote with reference to findings of an annual market research conducted by Hay Group.

All categories of employees have faced that lost in value. In particular, average annual incomes of CEOs in Ukraine fell from $59,600 to $55,400, those of marketing directors from $32,000 to $23,000, senior HR managers earned $22,500 instead of $26,800 over the year. Account managers saw a decrease in salaries from $11,300 to $7,500 per year. Similar trends were recorded among other groups of employees.

"A reduction in salaries and wages was more frequently experienced by personnel of car dealerships, developing firms, and the energy sector and metallurgy that are oriented towards the domestic market. Employers in the financial sector – banks and insurance companies – were also far from generous, only a third of them raised salaries," the article wrote.

Only software developers and other IT employees have become a pleasant exception amid a worldwide decrease in real incomes. Their revenues even slightly grew: from $15,000 to $15,900 per year. This was due to the integration into the global market where salaries are also on the rise: U.S. software developers started receiving $18,000 per year more, with an average income being $94,000.
