Operating banks in Ukraine post UAH 52.2 bln loss since year's start

Operating banks in Ukraine, excluding insolvent ones, posted UAH 6.1 billion in loss in September, bringing the total amount of loss to UAH 52.2 billion for the period from January through September 2015, according to the National Bank of Ukraine.

The regulator said that two banks accounted for 77% of the loss posted in September, yet it did not name them.

The banks operated in the red in 2015 due to the formation of large reserves worth UAH 9.3 billion to cover possible loss from active operations. At the same time, net revenue from interest in September grew to UAH 4.5 billion from UAH 4.1 billion in August.

The NBU said that the banks' revenues January through September 2015 amounted to UAH 153.5 billion, while expenses totaled UAH 205.7 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's banking system, excluding insolvent banks, posted UAH 47.902 billion in losses January through August 2015.

In 2014, Ukrainian banks' losses amounted to UAH 52.966 billion.
