Gas reserves in Ukraine's underground storage facilities expanded by 4%, or 640 million cubic meters (mcm), to 16.831 billion cubic meters (bcm) from October 17 to October 26, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.
"Pumping of natural gas in underground storage facilities is continuing at seven storage facilities at a daily rate of more than 70 mcm," the report says.
Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev expects to pump more than 17 bcm of natural gas reserves in underground storage facilities by end of October that will allow the country to comfortably pass the heating season.
Prior to the launch of the heating season of 2015-2016, Ukraine started importing natural gas from all current supplier countries on October 13 .
