Average wages in Ukraine grow by $6 to equivalent of $190 in Sept

The average wages of full-time employees in Ukraine grew by 3.3%, or UAH 138 ($6) in September 2015 from August 2015, to UAH 4,343 (about $190), according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.

The number of full-time employees in Ukraine remained unchanged in September, being 8 million people, the State Statistics Service said.

The highest salaries in September were registered in the air transport sector (UAH 19,600, or $856), finance and insurance (UAH 8,400, or $367), and R&D and engineering (UAH 6,700, or $293).

The lowest salaries in September were paid for postal and courier services (UAH 2,200, or $96), health care (UAH 2,800, or $122), and education (UAH 3,200, or $140).

At the same time, the average salaries of full-time workers in the education sector grew by 14.4% in September from August, those in transportation by land and by pipelines rose by 10.5% and in agriculture by 8.5%. Yet, the maritime and river transportation sector saw a 13% decline in the average wages, those in public administration and defense, obligatory social insurance fell by 4.2% and postal and courier business by 2.5%.

As was reported earlier, the average wages of full-time employees in Ukraine in August declined by 4.2%, or UAH 185 ($8), to UAH 4,205 ($184) from UAH 4,390 ($192) in July.
