NBU assets almost double since year start

Assets of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) increased in January-September 2015 by 48.9% and amounted to UAH 859.115 billion as of October 1, according to the NBU financial statements published in the Ukrainian parliament's daily newspaper Holos Ukrayiny (the Voice of Ukraine).

According to the statements, the bank's assets grew due to an increase in funds denominated in foreign currency and precious metals by 9.3 times to UAH 162.977 billion, as well as securities held by non-residents in the NBU portfolio by 65% to UAH 145.686 billion.

Liabilities of the NBU grew 44.8% to UAH 718.506 billion over the first nine months, including those of state institutions, which were up by seven times - to UAH 105.240 billion, while liabilities to the IMF increased 2.5 times to UAH 161.322 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to the audited updated statements of the NBU for 2014, the bank's assets grew by 38.4% to UAH 277.269 billion, liabilities were up by 37% to UAH 496.727 billion, and equity rose 43.5%, to UAH 80.513 billion.
