Ukraine shows significant progress in simplifying business – Abromavicius

Over the past year Ukraine has demonstrated significant progress in simplifying business operations, evidenced by improvement in the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business ranking, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius said Wednesday at a press conference in Kyiv.

"We are moving in the right direction; just two years ago, the country ranked 112th, and currently it’s 83rd," he said.

Abromavicius is confident that Ukraine's position in the ranking could be even higher, as it has only taken into account the reforms carried out before July of this year.

At this, World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Qimiao Fan, who also attended the press conference, emphasized that Ukraine's progress was quite significant.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine has advanced 13 positions to rank 83rd on the Ease of Doing Business Index created by the World Bank Group.

Experts of the World Bank pointed out that the key reform that contributed to the improvement in the rating was simplification of the business registration, according to the Doing Business website.
