"A gas purchase scheme has not yet been approved by the World Bank. This will be precisely the subject of negotiations this week," Naftogaz chief said noting that Naftogaz is going to continue negotiations with the World Bank later this week.

According to Kobolev, Ukraine intends to negotiate the possibility of purchasing gas both on the European and Russian markets using the loan funds.

At the same time, he recalled that a loan worth $300 million that has been allocated for Ukraine by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development provides for purchasing natural gas only on the European market.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in mid-October, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko stated that the European Investment Bank and World Bank signed an agreement under EU guarantee that aimed to facilitate the purchase of gas by Ukraine's national gas company, NJSC Naftogaz.
