The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry has reviewed its forecast for a gross yield of grain in 2015 and lowered it by 300,000 tonnes, to 59.2 million tonnes, according to the ministry's press service.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The gross output of grain this year is expected at 59.2 million tonnes," the ministry said.

The 2015 harvest will be enough not only to meet domestic demand and ensure food security in the country, but also prop up export potential estimated at 36.6 million tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the agriculture ministry forecast the gross yield of grain at 59.5 million tonnes.

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported Ukraine in 2014 harvested a bumper crop of 63.8 million tonnes, which was 2.4% up on 2013. The data did not include information from the occupied Crimea, Sevastopol and part of Donbas.

The 2015 harvest will be lower due to a decline in the yield of maize, which is expected at about 26 million tonnes, which will be 2 million tonnes down on 2014. The lower maize yield is connected with unfavorable weather conditions this summer.
