Parliament approves the Open Skies Agreement with U.S. / Photo from UNIAN
The agreement on air transportation was signed between the governments of Ukraine and the United States was signed in Washington on July 14, 2015.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law "On ratification of the Agreement on air transportation between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States" (No.0068), according to an UNIAN correspondent.
The explanatory memorandum states that the agreement is aimed at boosting “bilateral interstate relations between Ukraine and the United States” and will contribute to the development of cooperation in the field of air transport and tourism. It is also aimed at developing business links, as well as further expanding the geography of flights of the Ukrainian airlines.
Read alsoCabinet asks Rada to ratify Open Skies agreement with U.S.Under the agreement, each party shall recognize the validity of certificates of airworthiness, certificates of competency and licenses issued or rendered valid by the other party.
Also, the agreement states that in case of an incident or threat of an incident related to an unlawful seizure of aircraft or other unlawful acts against the safety of passengers, crew, aircraft, airports or air navigation facilities, the parties shall assist each other by fostering operational cooperation and other related activities.
