Jaresko says IMF mission not to arrive until 2016 budget drafted

The date when the IMF review mission arrives in Ukraine has not yet been determined, since the Fund expects to receive the draft state budget for 2016 for its line-item analysis, said Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko.

"There is no date yet [of the mission’s arrival]," Jaresko said.

At this she noted that, given the need to agree the draft budget for 2016 with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), it is still unknown when the draft is to be submitted for the Parliament’s consideration.

"We will submit the [draft] budget as soon as it is agreed upon with the IMF. We need to work with them [with the IMF] on every article, every billion, while we have not so many articles we can cut," the minister said.

The lack of tax changes will not allow Ukraine staying within the planned budget deficit of 3.7% of GDP in 2016, raising it to at least UAH 68 billion and bringing Ukraine out of the IMF-approved reform program.
