Ukraine has reduced daily volumes of its gas purchases from Russia by four times compared with the beginning of the month, to 10 million cubic meters (mcm) per day, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said on Tuesday, adding that paid-up gas will only suffice for four days.
"Ukraine has reduced volumes of its gas purchases from Russia due to Naftogaz financial deficit by four times - to 10 million cubic meters per day compared with the beginning of the month. Simultaneously, its purchases from Europe are also declining. Thus, as of now, at the current low gas offtake, the paid-up gas will only suffice for four days - till Saturday, November 14," Miller said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 9, Ukrtransgaz announced that, having accumulated gas volumes necessary for the heating season and ensuring an uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to the EU, Ukraine pumped 57 mcm of gas out of its underground storage facilities in the first week of November.
On November 5, Ukraine's state gas company Naftogaz transferred $24 mln worth of prepayment for gas supplies.
Naftogaz expects the Russian energy giant to offer its price for the Russian gas for Ukraine to be purchased in the first quarter of 2016.
