Spending on security and defense in 2016 is recommended at UAH 100 billion / Photo from UNIAN
Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers allocate 5% of GDP for security and defense in 2016, according to the NSDC's press service.
"At its meeting today [November 11], the NSDC considered a budget for security and defense in 2016. Following debates, we recommend that the Cabinet of Ministers ensure spending on security and defense in keeping with the National Security Strategy and the Military Doctrine at 5% of GDP. At least 3% of this should be spent on the defense sector," the Council said.
In this connection, spending from the general fund of Ukraine's national budget will be at least UAH 100 billion.
Special funds and loans to be raised against state guarantees are also seen as the source of additional financing.
