Ukraine halts electricity imports from Russia

On November 13 Ukraine stopped importing electricity from Russia by launching the third block of Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, which has been repaired, according to Ukrenergo’s statement.

As of November 13, 2015, imports of electricity from Russia has been suspended. The needs of Ukraine’s united energy grid are covered with own generation capacities,” the statement reads.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 9, Ukrainian Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said that Ukraine intended to stop importing electricity from Russia on November 11 by launching the third block of Rivne NPP. As it was planned, the unit was connected to the network on November 11.
