Gas stocks in underground storage in Ukraine shrink by 143 mcm within week

The reserves of natural gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities (USFs) decreased by 143 million cubic meters (mcm), or 0.8%, to 16.862 billion cubic meters (bcm), in the period from November 7 to November 14, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.

Thus, about 20.41 mcm of gas was pumped out of the Ukrainian USFs on November 14.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine accumulated the minimum necessary volumes of gas for the heating season and ensured uninterrupted transit shipments of Russian gas to the EU. On October 30 it started consuming gas from the USFs, Ukrtransgaz reported.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced the country would need to additionally import about 5 bcm of gas for the heating season.
