Retail turnover in Ukraine declines 21.7% since year's start

The volume of retail trade in Ukraine except for the occupied Crimea and Donbas decreased in January-October 2015 by 21.7%, to UAH 828.8 billion compared to the same period in 2014 (in comparable prices), the State Statistics Service reported on its website.

According to the report, retail trade saw the steepest decline in Luhansk and Donetsk regions where it shrank by 78.2% and 67.4%, to UAH 6.5 billion and UAH 25.2 billion, respectively.

The smallest reduction in retail trade turnover was recorded in Lviv (12.7% down, to UAH 46.3 billion, and Kyiv regions (13% down, to UAH 42.8 billion). At the same time, retail trade turnover in the city of Kyiv slid by 14.9% over the period under review, to UAH 127.3 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade turnover in Ukraine, not including the occupied Crimea and Donbas, saw a 22.3% decline in January-September 2015 year-over-year, to UAH 735 billion (in comparable prices).

In 2014, retail trade turnover in Ukraine shrank by 8.6% from 2013, to UAH 903.535 billion.
