Ukraine-Russia trade turnover halves in nine months of 2015

The trade turnover between Ukraine and the Russian Federation dropped more than twofold in the first 9 months of 2015, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

According to the State Statistics Service, exports of Ukrainian goods to Russia fell by 55.6%, down to $3.6 billion, compared to $8.1 billion year-over-year. Imports of goods from Russia decreased by 47.9%, down to $5.5 billion.

However, Russia remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner. It has a 12.8% share in Ukraine’s exports and provides 20% of the country’s imports. The next most important export market for the Ukraine is Turkey - 7.3% of exports and import markets - China and Germany, which accounted for 10.9% and 9.8%, respectively.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the overall surplus of foreign trade in Ukraine in January-September, 2015, amounted to $737 million, which is 27.7% more than in the same period last year.

Exports of goods to the EU countries in January-September 2015 decreased by 32.9%, down to $9.246 billion yoy, amounting to 32.9% of total exports. Imports of goods from the EU member states decreased by 28.2% in this period, down to $11.148 billion, or 40.7% of total imports.
