Ukraine's Jan-Sep exports of ferronickel down 7.3%

Ukraine's exports of ferronickel fell 7.3% year on year to 74,900 mt in the first nine months of the year, down from 80,830 mt exported in January-September 2014, the state statistics service reported Monday, according to Platts news agency.

At the same time, revenues from exports of ferronickel increased to $193 million from $188.8 million a year ago, the statistics service said, Platts reports.

Over January through September, Ukraine exported 33,360 mt of ferronickel to the Netherlands, up from 23,050 mt a year ago and supplies to China increased to 10,170 mt from zero exported in January-September 2014.

Ukraine also supplied 18,520 mt of ferronickel to Italy, up from 16,650 mt a year ago, exports to the United Kingdom rose to 4,900 mt from 2,860 mt and supplies to the US increased to 4,080 mt from 110 mt in January-September 2014.

Meanwhile, exports to South Korea slumped to 2,280 mt from 28,970 mt a year ago and supplies to Finland fell to 1,090 mt from 8,130 mt.

In September alone Ukraine exported 6,050 mt of ferronickel, down from 7,490 mt in September 2014 and down from 7,200 mt exported in August.

Ukraine supplies its ferrotitanium mostly to Germany and the Netherlands.

In 2014 Ukraine exported 103,480 mt of ferronickel, down 9.1% from 113,780 mt exported in 2013. Ukraine also exported 2,760 mt of ferrotitanium, up 1.5% from 2,720 mt.
