Ukraine vows to improve social standards next year

A draft law on state budget for 2016, developed on the basis of a tax reform of the Ministry of Finance, seeks to improve Ukraine's social standards next year, according to Ukrainian online newspaper Ekonomichna Pravda at epravda.com.ua.

In particular, the 2016 draft budget envisages a gradual increase in the minimum wage in 2016 to UAH 1,378 from January 1, or $57.54 (at the official forex rate as of December 1, 2015); UAH 1,450, or $60.54 (+5.2%) from May 1; and UAH 1,550, or $64.72 (+6.9%) from December 1.

The minimum income level will amount, on the average, to UAH 1,330 per capita, or $55.53 (at the official forex rate as of December 1, 2015) from January 1; UAH 1,399, or $58.41 (5.2%) from May 1; UAH 1,496, or $62.46 (+6.9%) from December 1.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Finance Minister of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko stated early November that social standards would increase 12% in 2016 on a December-to-December basis, in line with the projected inflation rate.
