Gazprom names gas price for Ukraine in Q1, 2016

According to the estimates of Russian energy monopoly Gazprom, the price of Russian gas deliveries to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2016 will amount to about $230 per 1,000 cubic meters, with any discount to be discussed separately by the Russian government, said Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Gazprom, Prime reported.

"Based on the existing [calculation] formula set forth in the contract, the price for Ukraine in the first quarter [of 2016] will be about $230," Golubev said.

"The decision on granting discount will be made by the Russian government. I named the terms of the contract, Gazprom does not decide on the discount," he added.

The average customs value of imported gas to Ukraine in November 2015 amounted to $229.69, or UAH 5,265.35, per 1,000 cubic meters.

The Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry expects the price of Russian gas for Ukraine in the first quarter of 2016 will be $210 per 1,000 cubic meters. At the same time, Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn predicts that the average annual price of Russian gas for Ukraine will be at about $207-208 per 1,000 cubic meters in 2016.
