Cabinet not to subsidize Naftogaz in 2016 – Yatsenyuk

Next year, the Ukrainian government will not subsidize Naftogaz of Ukraine, the country's largest state energy holding, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said when reporting at the Parliament today, December 11.

"The deficit of Naftogaz in 2014, which was covered by means of budget funds, totaled $10 billion. This year, the deficit has been reduced ten-fold, amounting to only $1 billion. Next year we will stop subsidizing Naftogaz of Ukraine from the budget," Yatsenyuk said.

Earlier, Naftogaz Chief Andriy Kobolev stated in his interview with UNIAN that the company had not received any subsidies from the state budget since the second half of 2015, while the issue of state support in 2016 would depend on gas tariffs for [Ukrainian] households.
