Bombardier, Siemens mulling Ukraine as site for production

Infrastructure Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky announces that Canadian engineering company Bombardier and Europe's largest machine-building company Siemens are willing to invest in railway production facilities in Ukraine.

"As for Bombardier and Siemens – there is some movement. I think there will be some decisions next year. Moreover, general decisions about entering Ukraine have already been made by the head offices of the companies," the minister told reporters.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Lviv Regional State Administration reported that Bombardier had shown interest in developing cooperation with Lviv-based Electron machine-building corporation and Lviv locomotive repair plant.

In addition, in September, the Infrastructure Minister informed about negotiations with Bombardier representatives who said the company was interested in the development of production capacities in Ukraine. In particular, it was willing either to create a joint venture with Ukrainian manufacturers of rail traction system or to buy abandoned factory premises.
