"As of today, Ukraine has already exported 20 million tonnes, which was 18% up on the same period last year. This means more revenues in foreign currency in the country," the press service quoted Deputy Agrarian Policy Minister Vladyslava Rutytska as saying.

In her words, Ukraine plans to export about 36 million tonnes of newly harvested grain during the current marketing year, which is to end on June 30, 2016. The total yield of grain in Ukraine this year topped 61 million tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers harvested 61.1 million tonnes of grain from 14.6 million hectares in 2015.

During the previous marketing year, Ukraine exported 34.8 million tonnes of grain.

On November 19, the ministry signed a memorandum with grain traders to stipulate maximum exports and quarterly shipments onto foreign markets in order to ensure the country's food security.
