Heads of Naftogaz, Gazprom meet in Berlin

Head of Ukrainian state energy holding Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolev and chief of the Russian Gazprom Alexei Miller met in Berlin December 23 to discuss uninterrupted transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory to the EU, according to the report by Gazprom.

"At the meeting, issues were discussed related to ensuring uninterrupted transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe, the conditions for the purchase of gas by Naftogaz of Ukraine from Gazprom in the first quarter of 2016," reads the statement, which provides no further details of the meeting.

As reported by Gazprom, Naftogaz Ukraine announced at that meeting the intention to appeal to the Russian government on the provision of a discount for gas in the first quarter of 2016.
