Defense Ministry's budget increased by 21%

The Verkhovna Rada has increased spending on the Ukrainian Defense Ministry in 2016 by 21% to UAH 55.6 billion, compared to UAH 45.8 billion allocated in 2015, as stated in the national budget for 2016 adopted on December 25.

In particular, UAH 42.6 billion is allocated for maintenance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and training of troops, with UAH 4.7 billion earmarked for the development of arms and equipment for the Ukrainian Army.

UAH 1.5 billion is set for medical treatment and rehabilitation of the personnel of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and veterans of military operations. Additionally, UAH 2.2 billion will be allocated for the training of military specialists in higher educational institutions, as well as skills development and retraining of the military.

In addition, the special fund provides for UAH 3.6 billion in spending under the budget item "Expenses for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to implement measures aimed at improving the defense capabilities and state security."
