Energoatom borrows $85 mln in loans from two banks

State-run enterprise Energoatom, which operates all Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, has attracted loans from two banks to the tune of $85 million for the period of three years, according to a posting published on the Public Procurements portal.

Energoatom on December 14 signed an agreement with Dutch-based Amsterdam Trade Bank to raise a $50 million loan at 12% per annum. On December 21, the company signed an agreement to borrow $35 million from Ukrainian-based Ukrgasbank at 12.5% per annum. The funds are being provided for the period of three years.

Among other banks participating in a tender for the provision of loans were also PJSC State Savings Bank of Ukraine Oschadbank and Alfa-Bank (Ukraine), which lost the bidding because of higher interest rates, set up at 15% and 15.5%, respectively.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is the largest electricity producer in Ukraine, accounting for about 55% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of all nuclear power plants in the country.
