Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev have discussed the situation caused by Russian embargo on Ukrainian products and ban on transit, according to the official website of the President of Ukraine.
Speaking by phone, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements achieved during the visit of the Ukrainian President to Astana on October 8-9, 2015. They also discussed prospects of intensifying cooperation in strategically important spheres for the two countries, the report says.
The Kazakh side confirmed willingness to fulfill the effective bilateral and multilateral agreements with Ukraine in order to prevent any discrimination in Ukrainian-Kazakh trade.
Poroshenko emphasized that Russian actions violate the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties and respective rules and regulations of the World Trade Organization. In this regard, the Presidents discussed the opportunity of establishing transit of Ukrainian goods in order to prevent Russian adverse effect on the trade turnover between Ukraine and Kazakhstan, as well as the Asian countries.
The Heads of State discussed the situation in Donbas as well, particularly the initiative of the Ukrainian party to deploy the international peacekeeping forces in the occupied territories.
The Presidents instructed the foreign ministries to start preparing the visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev to Ukraine.
