Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko announces Ukraine is seeking to resume shell eggs exports to Israel and proposes laboratory tests of each batch of eggs to be delivered to that country to remove concerns and restraints after contamination of Ukrainian eggs with Salmonella was reported.
"We will propose unprecedented [quality] control – each batch will undergo tests. I think our Israeli partners will find such proposal as satisfactory," the minister said after a government meeting on Wednesday, January 13.
Many Ukrainian agricultural producers are interested in entering the Israeli market, and all necessary measures will be taken to facilitate this process, Pavlenko noted.
"Now there is a big interest on the part of Ukrainian companies to enter Israel's market," the minister said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Israel's Agriculture Ministry halted imports of Ukrainian eggs on January 6 due to suspicions that products could be infected with Salmonella. Thus, Ukraine suspended eggs exports for the period of required tests.
