Ukraine, U.S. "open skies" starting today

Ukraine and the United States have become full partners under the Open Skies Agreement starting today, according to Volodymyr Omelian, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure.

"As the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has just announced, all legal formalities have been completed, and the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on aviation services entered into force," Omelian wrote on Facebook.

The official recalled that the Open Skies Agreement was signed July 14, 2015 in Washington, DC, and was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine November 4.

The agreement also sets an arbitrary frequency and capacity of aviation services by carriers of both parties. Independent ground handling at airports is also allowed.
