Ruble continues to weaken: almost RUB 79 to dollar

The Russian ruble on Monday morning overcame new lows against the U.S. and European currencies against the backdrop of the fall of Brent crude price below $28, Russian news agency Prime reported.

"As of 10:08 Moscow time, the dollar added RUB 1.07 – up to RUB 78.67 to the dollar, the euro added RUB 0.97 – up to RUB 85.65 to the euro, according to the data of the Moscow Stock Exchange," the report says.

The dollar and the euro have updated the highs from December 2014, after rising earlier to RUB 78.831 and RUB 85.757 respectively.
