President of the Swiss Confederation Johann Schneider-Ammann announced at a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Friday about the disbursement of additional $200 million to Ukraine for the replenishment of the country's forex reserves.
"The sides have agreed that Ukraine will additionally get $200 million to replenish its foreign exchange reserves," the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.
Poroshenko thanked the government of Switzerland and the Swiss people for the humanitarian and financial aid totaling about $350 million.
The press service said that the Swiss president had said he admired the way Ukraine had been fighting for its independence.
The two sides also touched on the progress of reforms conducted by Ukraine.
They separately discussed the ways of boosting Ukrainian-Swiss trade and economic and investment cooperation. To this end they agreed on a meeting of the Ukrainian-Swiss joint committee for trade, economic cooperation in 2016 after a nearly a four-year break. The two sides will prepare relevant bilateral documents for signing and present potentially interesting investment projects.
Poroshenko also invited Schneider-Ammann to visit Ukraine on an official visit.
