The average salary of a full-time Ukrainian employee grew by 30% last year, while real wages shrank by 10% compared to 2014, the State Statistics Service reported.
In particular, the average salary in December rose by UAH 732 ($29.1 as per the Central Bank's official forex rate) from November 2015 to UAH 5,230 ($207.9), while comparing to December 2014 the average salary in the reporting month increased by 30.4%. This figure is 3.8 times higher than the minimum wage in Ukraine, set at UAH 1,378 ($54.7).
At the same time, the State Statistics Service reports that real wages in December 2015 increased by 15.2% compared to November 2015, but decreased by 9.9% year-over-year.
The highest average salary in December was recorded in air transport with UAH 21,600 ($858), finance and insurance with UAH 9,900 ($393) and water transport with UAH 8,700 ($345).
The following sectors paid the lowest average salaries in December: postal and courier services recorded UAH 2,500 ($99.3), hotel and restaurant business UAH 3,300 ($131.2), healthcare UAH 3,200 ($127.2), and agriculture UAH 3,400 ($135.1).
Last year the highest increase in average salaries of full-time employees was recorded in water transport – up by 57.9%, air transport by 54.2%, health care by 47.2%, and trade by 42.1%, according to the State Statistics Service. Administrative workers, as well as post officers and couriers saw the lowest increase in their average salary – by 19.8% and 20.4%, respectively. The average earnings in the scientific research area grew by a mere 16% last year.
The data does not include reports from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and some districts in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in eastern Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the average salary of full-time Ukrainian employees in November 2015 decreased by UAH 34 ($1.3) as compared with the previous month and amounted to UAH 4,498 ($178).
