Ukraine doubles coal imports from South Africa, while reducing them from Russia

Last year, Ukraine more than doubled its coal imports from South Africa to 897,000 tonnes, from 376,000 tonnes in 2014, as stated in a report on the progress of implementing the Program of the Cabinet of Ministers' activities "Ukraine 2020" published on the government website.

At the same time, it is noted that Ukraine reduced coal imports from Russia in 2015 by 69% to 628,000 tonnes as compared to the previous year.

According to the State Fiscal Service, Ukraine imported coal and anthracite worth of $1.632 billion last year.

The country's major coal suppliers were Russia, the U.S., and Kazakhstan.
