"We have exchanged a certain number of permits to prevent a complete halt to our transit to Asia. The exact number of quotas will be determined during the negotiations to be held in the first quarter of 2016," according to the press service.

As reported earlier, Russia imposed a ban on transit shipments of Ukrainian goods as part of its policy to protect the Russian market. The measure was adopted in response to the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement introducing a free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union. The economic provisions of the agreement entered into force on January 1, 2016.

On Friday, activists from Zakarpattia, Lviv and Volyn regions announced a protest action, blocking cargo transport with Russian registration plates from crossing Ukraine's border. The rally aimed at blocking Russian trucks from crossing the Ukrainian territory is spreading across the country, according to Ukraine Today.
