Meanwhile deputy energy minister Natiq Abbasov said in an interview with Baku-based information agency Trend that "Azerbaijan’s share in global oil output is minor and does not affect price assessment."

As was reported earlier, the talks between Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and representatives of OPEC member-states in Doha (Qatar capital) resulted in an agreement to freeze oil production at January levels in case other oil producers join the initiative.

In 2015, Azerbaijan produced 41.7 million tonnes of oil, with daily production standing at around 0.8 million barrels.
