Gazprom gas supplies to occupied Donbas amount to 1.7 bcm in 2015

Last year Russian gas monopoly Gazprom supplied 1.727 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to the separatist-controlled territories of Donbas, as stated in the company’s annual report.

According to the report, Gazprom supplied 7.827 bcm of natural gas to Ukraine in 2015.

At the same time, according to Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system, Ukraine imported 6.1 bcm of gas from Russia in 2015.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 26, 2015 Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said Gazprom had addressed Naftogaz of Ukraine proposing that the trader company signs an agreement on natural gas supplies to the occupied Donbas.

Miller also stated that Naftogaz of Ukraine’s debt for gas deliveries in the volume of 704 mcm to the temporarily occupied Donbas amounted to $212 million. According to him, the debt occurred for gas supplied in the period from February 19 to June 26, 2015.

On February 20, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Russia had started to supply gas to Donbas following the requests of gas companies in the unrecognized republics.

Ukraine refused to pay for gas deliveries.
