Russia, Poland agree to extend transitional period for freight traffic until April 15

Russia and Poland agreed to extend a transitional period of freight traffic carried using special permits until April 15, Poland's Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Jerzy Schmidt said on Friday, according to Russian news agency TASS.

"Experts of Poland and Russia reviewed the transitional period and discussed the issue permits for the above period expiring on April 15 within the framework of the next round of negotiations," Schmidt said, TASS wrote.

It was reported earlier Russia and Poland failed to agree on motor freight transportation quotas for 2016 and the traffic between two countries is halted from February 1.

Conditions and documents required for traffic permits were discussed at the yesterday's meeting between expert of both countries, Schmidt said. "This can be transit or bilateral documents," the official said.

"Today we will continue negotiations important not merely for the transport but also for economies of Russia and Poland," he added.
