Ukraine Cabinet intends to sign FTA deal with Turkey

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to complete in 2016 the negotiations with Turkey on a free trade area (FTA) and to conclude a relevant agreement, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a cabinet meeting Wednesday.

"We have to find common ground with our Turkish friends so that we could sign an FTA [agreement] this year," Yatsenyuk said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine will send a trade mission to Turkey in the second half of 2016, as well as intensify the negotiations on a free trade area between the two countries.

Export of goods from Ukraine to Turkey amounted to $2.1 billion in January-September 2015, while imports from Turkey to Ukraine in the same period amounted to $0.6 billion.
