IOM to help Ukraine to create single database of IDPs

Ukraine is planning with the support of International Organization for Migration (IOM) to create a single database of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the zone of armed conflict in the east of Ukraine in order to determine their social and humanitarian needs, the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy has reported.

The prospect of creating such a database was discussed by Deputy Minister for Social Policy Vitaliy Muschynin and UNHCR Deputy Regional Representative Vanno Noupech at a meeting in the Ministry of Social Policy, the report says.

Muschynin discussed with Noupech joint activities of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Social Policy for the prevention of fraud and abuse in disbursement of social payments for displaced persons. In the framework of these activities, the State Migration Service is verifying information received from law enforcement agencies.
