The European Commission has allocated about EUR 550 million for the projects that relate directly to the Chornobyl nuclear power plant since its disaster, a representative of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas said in Brussels on Monday, according to an UNIAN correspondent from Brussels.
According to Schinas, after the disaster in 1986, the EC initiated a significant number of nuclear safety programs and cooperates with many international partners in order to improve the safety of nuclear power stations in the new independent states.
