The Justice Ministry of Ukraine intends to strengthen the criminal liability of registrars and notary officers for illegally altering records in the register of legal persons, a move, they believe, will help reduce the number of raider attacks in Ukraine.
"Registrars must not only be held liable by blocking access to the registry. They must be sent to prison. To this end, we are currently developing a bill that will strengthen criminal responsibility of registrars and notaries," Deputy Justice Minister Pavlo Moroz stated.
The deputy minister also noted that criminal responsibility would also apply to individuals who request changes concerning property ownership when deliberately submitting false documents.
The deputy minister added that if a registrar or a notary officer doubts the validity of the documents concerning the change of company ownership, they may appeal to the Justice Ministry for consultations. This way, they would protect themselves against any possible complaints and criminal liability.
