Ukravtodor to seek subcontractors to speed repairs of Kyiv-Odesa highway

In 2013, a tender for carrying out capital repairs of Kyiv-Odesa highway was awarded to Donetsk-based company Altcom, but the work has not been completed.

Barakh stressed that the work would not be completed in 2016, making it necessary to hire additional subcontractors.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2013 Altcom Road Construction Limited Liability Company, which specializes in construction and reconstruction of roads, bridges and airport runways, won the tender to repair the Kyiv-Odesa state international highway.

The repairs were funded through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the European Investment Bank, with guarantees from the state.

Further, on August 17, it became known that Altcom was awarded a tender to repair the Dnipro-Kryvyi Rih-Mykolaiv state highway, which journalists have placed onto a list of so-called "shame roads."

The infrastructure minister has warned that if the work under the second tender is not launched, and also if Altcom fails to finish the repairs on the Kyiv-Odesa state highway, the company risks being blacklisted by the state.

Meanwhile, the work has not yet begun, as one of the companies – the tender participant – has submitted a complaint to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (ACU) concerning violations of the legislation while holding the tender.

That means that the repairs will not be carried out.

The ACU has committed to consider the complaint as soon as possible, in order to ensure that the repairs of the Dnipro-Kryvyi Rih-Mykolaiv state highway are completed.
