First Deputy Chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhiy Pereloma has announced Ukraine has accumulated 14.75 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in its underground storage facilities (USFs), which is sufficient to meet demand of all categories of consumers for gas.
"A total of 14.75 bcm has been pumped [into USFs]. The volume is sufficient to meet Naftogaz's contractual obligations to supply gas to all categories of the consumers," Pereloma said during an intercom meeting of the government.
He noted that Naftogaz was prepared for the heating season and would fulfill its gas supply contracts.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated it was necessary to pump about 17 bcm of gas in the USFs for the 2016-2017 heating season.
